Michele A. Wood-Tweel, FCA, CFP, TEP
CEO and Executive Director

As senior staff person, Michele is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Institute. She serves on the Executive, and also assists Council in developing strategic and operational plans for the Institute. Along with the President, Michele shares the role of spokesperson for the profession in Nova Scotia. Her direct functions include professional conduct, legislation and inter-institute relations between the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and other Provincial Institutes.

Gregory H. Crosby, CA, LL.B
Director of Regulatory Affairs

Greg is responsible for the Institute's professional conduct and discipline process. He also oversees the maintenance of ICANS' By-Laws, Rules of Professional Conduct and related Council Interpretations. In addition, Greg provides support for the Membership and Professional Development committees and manages the registration/deregistration of professional corporations.

Wenda Bennett, CA
Director of Professional Standards

Wenda is responsible for the Institute's Professional Standards Review program and Professional Liability Insurance program. She provides advisory services to members on the CICA Handbook and other professional standards, and assists practitioners in establishing practices . She also provides staff support to the Accounting Education Foundation of Nova Scotia.


Kathie Slaunwhite
Office Administrator and Director, Professional Development

Kathie is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of ICANS, including the computer network and many of the financial transactions. Her direct responsibilities include the development and coordination of the ICANS PD offerings as well as the organization of the annual Convocation Dinner and Dance.


Cheryl Arsenault
Membership Registrar

Cheryl is responsible for the membership register and member database, and for most aspects of member benefits and services. She handles registration for member activities including PD sessions, practitioners’ events and Convocation.  Cheryl can be contacted for information on membership status, the UFE, Mandatory PD and inquiries about the ICANS website.

 

Joy Barkhouse
Communications Consultant

As an external PR practitioner, Joy provides communications advice and service to ICANS members and staff on a variety of issues and initiatives. In particular, she produces all written material including E-SCAN, SCAN and specialty publications. She also manages media relations for the Institute including the production of press releases, media tracking and identifying spokespeople for media inquires. Other areas of responsibility include: managing the nomination process for the Ross L. Towler CA of the Year Award, FCA nominations, all Institute advertising, correspondence related to ICANS’ High School Scholarship Program, and implementing other aspects of the Institute’s communication plan.

Cindy Mombourquette
Administrative Support/Receptionist

Cindy provides administrative support to the CEO and Executive Director and for the general office. Cindy is the contact for events such as the Annual Members Luncheon and the Annual Golf Tournament. She manages the production of all Professional Development course material as well as all other printing and copying requirements.   She also is responsible for the logistics of the smooth running of the ICANS' Training Centre and will be there to greet you upon arrival.
